I am often asked:  “Why is Quick Paint Rate painting rates calculator software so much BETTER than any rating book or general rates that are available?”

THE ANSWER IS EASY!

When pricing a project, YOUR painting/wallpapering rates MUST allow for:

1.    Labour Costs
2.    Material Costs
3.    Project Direct Overheads (travel, fuel, parking, accommodation for etc.) for each individual project.
4.    Company Overheads (office staff, insurances, vehicles, telephones, stationary, advertising, your salary-if you’re not ‘on the tools’ etc.)
5.    Profit

AND HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES WITH ANY RATING BOOK OR GENERAL RATES.

They are an ‘average’ rate and bear NO relationship to what YOU pay for labour, YOUR material prices or YOUR project by project direct overheads.

It doesn’t matter where you are located, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland or ‘Timbuktu’!  A good painter and decorator applies paint or hangs wallpaper at the same speeds.  However, what is very different is:

  • Labour:  The prime labour cost or amount you pay a painter varies according to where you are located.
  • Material prices are very different from one painter to the next and even if you are on the same prices as the next painter, if they are VAT registered and you are not, you need to allow for the VAT in your material costs.
  • Even for the same contractor, you cannot use the same rates for every job since your ‘Project Direct Overheads’ will vary from one project to the next.
  • Your profit allowance will vary.  If you are desperate for work, you may base your rates on a lower margin.  If you are in peak time, you may base rates on a higher margin.

And here is the great ADVANTAGE of using Quick Paint Rate.

Not only is it very, very easy to use, requiring no previous knowledge of how to calculate rates, but IN ADDITION, you can base the rates on any overall daily painter charge you want.  The daily painter charge you use will take into account:

  1. YOUR Labour Cost
  2. YOUR Material Prices
  3. YOUR Project Direct Overheads
  4. YOUR Company Overheads and Profit Allowances

Take all this into account and the fact that each Quick Paint Rate licence comes with TELEPHONE ESTIMATING SUPPORT (So if you have a question about a rate or general estimating question, you can give us a call and speak with one of our Painting Estimators).

It’s a ‘no brainer’, QUICK PAINT RATE painting rates calculator software is the only choice.

So what are you waiting for?
